Vancouver Earthquake (T2B22)
Yesterday was a big wake-up call for earthquake preparation. Although it was a small earthquake (magnitude of around 4.4 or so), it is one of the largest earthquakes in Vancouver before the Big One (which I'm very worried about). Earthquake News
One thing that was very surprising was how my friends and their families responded. When the earthquake struck, my friends simply paused what they were doing and sat it through. Their parents, on the other hand, began packing up their valuables. None of them climbed under a table for safety. This should not be what they do during the Big One. Packing up valuables is dangerous and childish during a disaster.
I believe that our society is beginning to "wreck" humankind. We are being taught that valuables such as diamonds mean more than our life because of the time and effort we spent earning money for that valuable. Money and valuables are not even close to being substitutes with human lives, and should not be of any value during a disaster because you simply cannot buy a life with money.
However, I realized that living a life after a disaster can be difficult without money or a home, but we should realize now that earthquakes are real and are going to happen. A death is not worth the money. Learn how to take care of yourself.

Cloning? (T2B20)
When I was browsing through a few articles, I came across this one Link, which apparently stated that China will begin cloning animals for food in 2016 due to the insufficient amount of poultry and meats being produced recently.
I'm not very sure if this news is true, because I'm sure a lot of people would be against this idea... However, if the clones really are used for the purpose of food, I think that this method of producing more food is an effective method to feed our growing population. Let's just hope that humans won't be the future animals going into these cloning machines.

Illinois Floods (T2B19)
Recently, there had been a flood in Illinois where 15 people died and several were injured. Many houses were also 'flattened'. Link. Accompanied with this disaster, many states faced lots of snow and blizzards.
Wow. To think that there had been so much disaster and it didn't even snow where I live.

Our Future in Energy (T2B17)
I wonder what energy will be like in the future? Apparently, Uruguay is now approaching 100% renewable energy. Link.
Wednesday, 23 December 2015
Drowning (T2B16)
In this article, an eight year old drowned in a ship's swimming pool. Apparently, lifeguards were not assigned at the pool. Link.
First of all, why is there a swimming pool in a boat when it is already floating on water? Second of all, why are there no lifeguards?????! It shouldn't be a surprise that someone actually died.
I wonder what people in the past would think of us now: people keep water in and out of a boat and it's not even a submarine.
Tuesday, 22 December 2015
Soap? (T2B15)
We all wash our wounds with soap and water right? In this article, it states that one should use a salt solution instead. Link. Apparently, hospital patients whose wounds were washed with soap required surgery a few years later due to infection.
I would personally not use a saline solution because it stings a lot... But, I heard that some soaps kill of a lot of bacteria, leaving only the stronger ones which may build up and become a problem. That may be why many patients required surgery for infections afterwards.

Seabin (T2B14)
So, there's gonna be this kind of automated seabin that will remove garbage and oil from our oceans so they can be disposed of properly. Link.
I think that this idea is a pretty good idea to promote clean waters. What is more important, however, is getting people to stop littering in the oceans so that these problems would not be an issue. For now, it is important to protect our marine life from global warming, which causes ocean acidification.

A Horse's Death (T2B13)
This article, again, is an example of how we use animals to our own advantage: Link. A police officer and his horse were both hit by a truck and at the horses last moments of life, he was euthanized at the scene.
It must be horrible to witness a dying horse that is clearly in lots of pain. Let us hope that people will drive more carefully in the future to prevent these incidents.

Bottled Air (T2B10)
We would never expect that China is actually selling bottled air 50 times more expensive than mineral water... So the air in China is so polluted that they actually buy air brought from Canada. Link. Well at least Canada found a way to improve their economy.
Tuesday, 15 December 2015
School Principal (T2B09)
Apparently, this school principal banned anything that's to do with Santa, Thanksgiving, or the pledge of Allegiance to make sure that there is nothing religious in the school. Link. She says that this is because not everybody believes in the same religion.
Although what she says is true, I dunno if Christmas really should be banned in schools... Having Christmas parties are just awesome! I think that people that are Jewish and celebrate Hannukah will still enjoy an occasional party once in a while. Either way, this teacher sounds a bit like Hitler and the teachers, Nazis.

True Courage (T2B08)
Remember the times where you thought you were brave when you stood up to a bully? Now imagine throwing yourself in front of a grenade to save a friend. Link. I wonder what it must be like - to know that you might die to save your friend.

Cute = Death? (T2B03)
Have you ever wondered why people tend to squeeze the soft fluffy cheeks of a cute animal like they want to strangle it? Apparently, it's basically the same concept for why you cry when you are overly happy. Here's the link: Murder?.

In this article, Donald Trump was apparently disqualified from running for president: Link. The White House says that he does not represent America's values.
Yesssss!!!!

American Hitler (T2B01)
Sooooo, Donald Trump said that if he were president, all Muslims would be banned from entering America: Link. Also, he thinks that all Americans should be armed with guns to defend themselves from them. In the article, the Florida mayor is banning Trump in turn.
Ok. So Trump thinks that he can be the American Hitler right? It's not very different from Hitler and Jews since he wants the Muslims to be blocked off and killed at any time legally. Donald's new name = Adolf Trump.

H.H. Holmes (T1B71)
Leonardo DiCaprio might actually win an oscar with this new horror film:Link. It's about the point of view from H.H. Holmes during his murders. If you didn't know, he built this large hotel with dead ends and block entrances where he would kill the guests.

Dumb Kid (T1B70)
Remember that kid who was arrested for bringing in a clock that looked like a bomb? Well, he's asking for 15 million dollars and an apology for having his life 'scarred'. At least he got to go to the white house and get a bunch of apple devices and popularity on social media.
Tiger and Goat (T1B69)
It is expected that a tiger would eat a goat upon contact. However, this little goat became best friends with the tiger and even shares the same territory as him :Link. I guess that once you get that lonely, you will be able to accept your food as your best friend...

Seed Bombs (T1B65)
Cool! In the future, we might make these things called seed bombs : Link. Basically, we just lunch them into deserted areas and the plants grow inside the bombs until they're ready to be planted where the "bomb" will break down leaving the plant.
Guide Dog (T1B64)
Usually, guide dogs are only used by humans. However, this poor blind dog depends on its guide dog to get around : Link.

Spiders As Tools(T1B63)
We can now find a spider and its prey's DNA from its web silk now. Link. Apparently, checking these webs can be a biomonitoring tool.
Trump Moment (T1B62)
Btw, here's another Trump moment: Link. This time, he's mocking a reporter with disabilities...
Japanese Inventions (T1B61)
Japan is the best place for finding cute and cool inventions. Take this for example: Link. These are self watering plants that are put on the backs of adorable ceramic animals. All you have to do is place the straw connected to the animals in a glass of water. They will then water themselves.

Finger Painting (T160)
We all know that police can identify people with fingerprints because they are so unique, but these researchers developed a way to identify genders as well. Link. Basically, females tend to have more amino acids in their sweat, so all we have to do is measure the amount of acids.
However, I don't know if this discovery is very that significant for crimes...
However, I don't know if this discovery is very that significant for crimes...
Great Wall of Canada (T1B59)
After declaring that he will build a wall between Mexico and America as president, Donald Trump says that he will also build a wall between Canada and America. Link. It is going to cost about 350 billion dollars, which he says will be paid off of Canadian gamblers in about 10 years. He says that it will be the 8th great wonder of the world.
What kind of idiot will spend so much resources and tax-payer money on a destructible wall that an airplane can fly over? I can't believe that some Americans actually support him.

Bad News Canada (T1B56)
Yes, Donald Trump is getting crazier and crazier... especially when he says that if he's president, America would be at war with Canada:Link. Military "Equipment" (T1B52)
We all know that there was a huge Paris attack recently. Unfortunately, a French military dog was killed in this attack while looking for explosives: Link
I find it extremely upsetting for humans to use other animals for our own problems like war. War is only caused by humans and yet, we still involve other animals even if they want to or not. Let this incident remind us of our foolishness and cruelty.

Magical Unicorn (T1B41)
So this article is about cleaning up the ocean with this cool system. Here is the link: Cool invention.
This thing is supposed to remove approximately 1/3 of the ocean's surface plastic pollution in 5 years.
The problem with this plan is that all the garbage is going to go back onto Earth in landfills. If only someone could come up with some kind of magical invention that would zap all our garbage and make them disappear.

Droughts (T1B34)
This has to be the coolest thing ever: Link. It would be really bad if we had a drought...But in this article, apparently the Nezahualcoyotl water reservoir dropped 82 feet when they had a drought and strangely enough, it caused an 16th century church to emerge. It's just like those sea castles from mermaid movies!

The Best Part of Halloween (T1B31)
My favourite part of Halloween are the decorations. However, I think some people are going too far: Take this for example: Link. They literally have decorations that look like real people getting killed in gruesome ways like getting stabbed, being wrapped up on a crucifix, and suffocating to death. Apparently they looked so real that people would run up to them and do CPR and the owners would just start cracking up. That seems fun. I might consider doing that next year.

I don't know what's more funny: This Link, or this Link. The first article is about this store that sells stuff off of stolen things and the second is about a person that robbed a store with a Halloween mask. First of all, why a Halloween mask? If I was the cashier, I would probably laugh my guts out after handing out the money...I should probably not be a cashier.
For the first article, I was wondering how they managed to steal that much stuff without getting attention from the police. Did they have to dig some kind of tunnel between both stores and craw through them every time they're out of stock?

Wow (T1B28)
This article makes me want to be an engineer: Link. It's about a engineer student that wrote a letter discussing how he and a female student studying in the same field are very different. I seriously did not know how difficult being a female in this society was...Even though I am one. I think he's a bit far-fetched in his letter because I have never, ever been discouraged at something just because of my gender.
In a nutshell, the writer is just praising the editor in a form of a letter.

Last class, my socials teacher told us about this Islamic women who was denied citizenship because she was wearing a tsadar over her head. Apparently, to be a citizen in Canada, you must not have anything covering your head. Now she's taking the Canadian government to court because she believes that she should be able to be a citizen along with her religion.
Why would the Canadian government even make a law banning people from being citizens if they are wearing stuff on their heads????? This women should be able to be a citizen despite wearing a tsadar! Let's hope that she wins in court.

Idiots of America (T1B6)
Yesterday, my brother showed me this piece of news : Piece of News
Anyways, this 14-year old guy named Ahmed Mohamed made this clock in a briefcase and brought it to school for his 'invention'. His teacher proceeded to call the police because she mistook it for a bomb and he was pretty much handcuffed for just a few hours. After this news became viral, he claimed that he was arrested only because of racial inequality.
First of all what kind of kid would bring an invention that looks like a weapon that could potentially blast the heads off of your classmates? Of course his teacher should have called the police because if something really did go wrong, it would be her responsibility. It is obviously not because of racial inequality. Ahmed is just another kid that thinks that anything bad that happens is only based off of racism. Which is what our messed up society is teaching us.
Why do people even call this inspiring? It's more like idiotiring.

(Thankfully) Extinct Giant Animals (T1B4)
Today, I learned about the eurypterids or 'giant scorpions'.
Let's say that if these "giant scorpions" still live, fishing would be the utmost boring thing that existed after golf. Having 5-10 lobsters in the lake will make fishing reduce your level of boredom to the point that our human minds can barely comprehend. Maybe because the giant scorpions have such large appetites. Also, if you plan on going for a swim because lakes are the only alternatives to swimming pools and oceans, which are filled with godknows what, lakes will now be occupied with prehistoric lobsters that are larger than you and will unleash all of their rage on your soft toes if given the chance to do so.
I can't believe that such creepy bugs ever lived! If they still roam the planet, I would be in mars right now, unless they live in zoos. I wouldn't even want to walk in water that's not in a swimming pool anymore.
Mother nature sure has a broad sense of imagination.

America's Dilemma (T1B3)
Kanye West is selling clothing for $2200: Rags for Sale
He is also running for president.
As you can probably guess, I love laughing at politicians. But I am not going to do so today.
Kanye West is a rapper with not much talent and a wannabe clothing designer. He produced tracks such as Stronger (a rip-off of Daft Punk's Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger) and other songs that I only need to hear once. During the 2015 MTV VMA awards ceremony, after accepting his award for godknowswhat reason, Kanye made a speech for presidential candidacy by beginning with "Bro" (Kanye's Full Acceptance Speech). We aren't exactly sure if he's serious or not.
I dunno what to say. I think that the reason he is running for president is because he's so full of himself. Kanye thinks that he is so popular and loved by everyone - sort of like Mr. Donald... just without as much money. Or as much pride. Or as much delusion.
At least Kanye's out there tryin' to make a livin'.

Another Triumph for Trash (T1B2)
Sooooooooooooo...I was watching a Youtube video about Donald Trump getting interviewed by a Mexican man. Here's the link: Trump Mocking Mexican
As we all know, Donald Trump said that if he was elected as president, he will build a wall between Mexico and America to prevent illegal immigrants. The Mexican man was extremely insulted by what Trump had said and asked him a question: would he build a wall between America and every country to prevent illegal immigrants, thieves, and drug dealers? Trump interrupted and asked if the man was sent by Mexico to ask him the question and did not provide a complete answer.
Donald Trump is so rude and he thinks that he can handle issues better than Obama - which he ACTUALLY stated in one of his interviews. I have a feeling that he will not be elected as president because he is a business man and not someone who can represent the United States and care about world issues. He only cares about himself and his 5 billion dollars. I wonder how he ever got the idea of running for president.
Trump for prez? Nah, more like trash for prez.
